ProAtion Systems Announces Internet HVAC Monitoring and Control

March 28, 2000 - ProAtion Systems now features remote access for HVAC monitoring and control via the Internet. The ProAtion ECT 2000 control system, for example, now lets personnel at Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, Virginia have access to their energy control system from their homes to monitor the system and adjust thermostats settings, eliminating special trips and improving comfort and economy in system operation. Also, ProAtion Systems personnel access the system to provide technical support while viewing the same conditions being viewed by church personnel. Using the Internet eliminates the need for additional telephone lines, modems and long distance charges.

Reliable Controls At Immanuel Bible Church, a 98,000 sq ft facility utilizing 38 thermostats, the ProAtion ECT 2000 energy controller is configured as a specialized server on the church local area network. The church's DSL Internet connection provides Always-On Internet service. A firewall provides protection against unauthorized access. All the church network administrator had to do was to open the firewall to allow access to the energy control server. ProAtion ECT 2000 provides multiple layers of security to prevent unauthorized access. The ProAtion ECT 2000 Operations Console program is used to communicate directly with the energy controller, not via a common Internet browser. The Operations Console and the energy controller communicate using a unique message protocol for further security. Furthermore, codes assigned by the church network administrator are required and can be changed from time-to-time. Finally, passwords protect the thermostat settings from being changed once the energy controller has been accessed.

ProAtion Systems is a leading provider of easy to use, graphic energy control systems. These systems control HVAC systems using digital communicating thermostats or remote control relays via multiple protocols including existing power line carrier A10 and X10. Lights, hot water heaters and other devices are controlled by relays. Models are available for from 10 to 500 thermostats, lights or other devices.
