Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd. Announces Smart Lighting Products Built on Echelon’s LONWORKS® Platform

(Sunnyvale, CA.- July 27, 2000) - Matsushita Electric Works (MEW), Ltd., maker of National and Panasonic, NAIS brand products and the leader in the Japanese lighting control industry, announced today that they have developed a set of lighting control products based on Echelon's (NASDAQ: ELON) LonWorks® platform. The new products are designed to serve the rapidly emerging market for open, interoperable LonWorks based building control systems in Japan. These new MEW products (a relay control unit and a scene controller for dimming four or six lights) were created through close collaboration between MEW and Echelon and will be commercially available in December of this year, to be followed by overseas models which are currently under development in Japan.


Echelon's Open Systems 2000 Asia/Pacific Seminars Draw Standing-Room-Only Crowds Hundreds Attend First Two Shows of Series

(Sunnyvale, CA.- July 19, 2000) - Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON), the leader in connecting everyday devices to the Internet, announced today that its Open Systems 2000 seminar series for the Asia/Pacific region is off to a smashing start, opening to standing-room-only crowds. Attendance was 20% greater than expected, resulting in 400+ attendees at the first two seminars held in Tokyo and Osaka. The series is being co-sponsored by a number of companies including Gold sponsors CNA, National, Yamatake Building Systems and Yokogawa M&C Corporation/Yokogawa Johnson and is taking place from July 12 - September 7 in eleven cities across seven countries. The Open Systems 2000 seminars consist of a presentation and demonstration illustrating the power and flexibility of the LonWorks® platform for open, interoperable, Internet-connected device networks for commercial buildings. Total attendance is expected to be more than 2,200 people for the duration of the tour and will represent a large spectrum of the building industry including owners, planners, architects, specifiers and engineers.


Enel SpA, NTT Data and Sun Microsystems to Deliver Keynote Addresses at Echelon's LonWorld2000™ Conference and Exhibition Talks To Underscore Role of LONWORKS Networks in Service- Driven Internet Business Models

(Sunnyvale, CA.- July 18, 2000) - Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON) announced today that senior executives from Enel SpA, NTT Data and Sun Microsystems will be keynote speakers at Echelon's LonWorld2000™ Conference and Exhibition taking place October 18-19 in Orlando, Florida. LonWorld™ is the world's largest annual forum focused on the technology and business of networking everyday devices. As keynote speakers, Mr. Alberto Perego, director of projects at Enel; Mr. Teruyoshi Kawai, senior executive vice president of NTT Data; and Ms. Pat Sueltz, president of Sun's Software Products and Platforms Division will present attendees with real-world examples of the new markets, applications, and services that are enabled by networking everyday devices in homes, buildings, factories, and transportation systems.
