Participate in the CABA Technology Roadmap Survey
An online survey is in progress on the CABA website (http://www.caba.org/trmsurvey). This survey is intended to collect data for the development of a five-year Technology Road Map (TRM) for the Intelligent Buildings Technology (IBT) industry. The TRM Project is being undertaken by IBI Group under the sponsorship of CABA, and a Steering Committee populated with representatives from both the private and public sectors.
The original survey deadline was January 22. We thank all those that responded and appreciate your valuable input. Unfortunately, the response to the TRM survey did not meet expectations. CABA and the Steering Committee have placed a high priority on the input of this survey to meet the objectives of the TRM. To ensure a successful survey, the date has been extended to February 19 and an incentive for participation is being offered.
We invite those that have not had the opportunity to respond yet to participate in this very important survey and win a NEW DIGITAL CAMERA (retail value approximately $500). If you have already participated in this survey, you are automatically eligible for the prize. The lucky winner will be announced on March 1.
CABA needs YOUR valuable input to truly make the TRM Project successful. By participating in this survey, you will help to promote a better understanding of the issues related to the advancement of IBT, thus fostering its adoption and usage, particularly in the institutional, commercial and high-rise residential market segments.
The survey allows you to answer questions relevant only to your company or organization's role in the IBT industry. Sections that do not apply may be easily skipped by following the appropriate links on the survey page. The estimated time for the completion for the survey is between 15 and 20 minutes.
More information on the TRM Project can be obtained by reading the article "Roadmap to Point the Way to the Future For Intelligent Buildings Technologies" which appeared on page 27 of the recent CABA Home & Building Automation QUARTERLY (http://www.caba.org/julie).
Any questions or concerns with regards to the survey may be directed to Peter Koutsoulias by email at pkoutsoulias@ibigroup.com. We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to receiving your valuable input.
$3.7 Billion Home Networking/Residential Gateway Marketplace the Focal Point for Industry Leaders at CONNECTIONS™ 2001
DALLAS, January 31, 2001 - The fifth annual conference and showcase CONNECTIONS™ 2001 will welcome close to 1,000 attendees to Seattle, Washington, in May, where industry leaders and experts will analyze the numerous challenges and opportunities facing the home networks and residential gateway market.
Market research and consulting firm Parks Associates predicts that this combined end-user market will grow from $3.7 billion in 2001 to $8.2 billion in 2004, but several issues must be resolved to achieve this end. For example, the industry as a whole must determine the roles of retail and service providers in distributing connectivity solutions, the function of standards in spurring (or impeding) growth, the right components for a successful bundled services offering, and the extent to which content will drive development in new solutions.
CABA (Continental Automated Buildings Association) and Parks Associates will host CONNECTIONS™ 2001: The International Showcase for Home Networks and Residential Gateways on May 9-11, 2001. Attendees will include leaders from all sectors of the home networks and residential gateway space who will meet to discuss and evaluate these and other critical issues. This international event, to be held at the Washington State Convention in Seattle, is expected to be the largest single showcase of residential connectivity solutions in the world. In addition to nearly 1,000 total attendees, the conference is expected to have more than 50 sponsoring companies demonstrating their wares in a 22,000 square-foot Showcase area.
CEDIA Allies with CONNECTIONS(tm) 2001 Event
Dallas, TX - CABA and Parks Associates, co-hosts of CONNECTIONS(tm), announced today that The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) will play a special participatory role at CONNECTIONS 2001(tm): The International Home Networking & Gateways Showcase, taking place May 9-11, 2001 at The Washington State Convention Center in Seattle.
CEDIA,
an association for installers of residential systems, will be a sponsor with
both a booth and a speaker at the conference. In addition, CEDIA will host a
special workshop on May 9 aimed at providing manufacturers and service providers
information about the high-end US marketplace for systems as well as optimal
approaches to mapping winning relationships with consumer-influencing CEDIA
dealers.
CABA Launches Technology Roadmap Survey
CABA, under the support and direction of a Steering Committee involving major international private sector participants and several Government departments, is managing a Project to develop a Technology Road Map (TRM) for the Intelligent Buildings Technologies (IBT) industry. The TRM Project is being carried out by the Toronto office of the IBI Group.
The TRM is a major research project that will:
The technologies examined cover the spectrum from main equipment, sensors, communications, artificial reason and automated controls. Application areas include energy management, office automation, indoor environment, local area networking, security, fire control, and maintenance scheduling, with practical considerations dictating the specific selection.
More information on the TRM Project can be obtained by reading the article "Roadmap to Point the Way to the Future For Intelligent Buildings Technologies" which appeared on page 27 of the recent CABA Home & Building Automation QUARTERLY ( http://www.caba.org/julie ).
