NATE to Offer Certification Testing for the First Time at AHR Expo

Westport, Connecticut-November 30, 1999 - North American Technician Excellence, Inc. (NATE), the leading certification program for technicians in the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry, will offer certification testing for Residential and Light Commercial HVAC&R Technicians for the first time on-site at AHR Expo, February 7-9, 2000 at the Dallas Convention Center. NATE will organize a morning and an afternoon testing session on February 8, 2000.

In its ongoing efforts to test and certify the industry, the non-profit NATE hopes to reach the thousands of installation and service technicians who will be attending AHR Expo, the largest HVAC&R exposition in North America.

Coordinating testing with local chapters of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors-National Association (PHCC), and Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), NATE will provide technicians with certification testing for several different industry areas, including air conditioning, air distribution, gas heating, heat pumps and oil heating.

contemporary According to NATE president Rex Boynton, NATE's certification exams reflect a consensus opinion on what technicians need to know to effectively service and install today's sophisticated HVAC systems. As an independent, non-profit national organization supported by a broad-based coalition of industry leaders, NATE represents a shared commitment to improving the HVAC&R industry through voluntary testing and certification.

"We are very pleased to provide industry professionals with another opportunity to enhance their experience at AHR Expo," said Clay Stevens, president of International Exposition Company, organizers of the annual AHR Expo. "During the last few years, the industry has been looking for an organization to step forward and offer the kind of high-quality certification that NATE provides. We are happy to provide them with a forum where they can reach a larger segment of the market."

NATE supporters include contractors, distributors, education and training providers, manufacturers, technicians, utilities, and their respective trade associations. Qualified testing organizations, using NATE-approved proctors, administer certification tests at sites around the nation, throughout the year.

Registration information is available by calling NATE toll-free at (877) 420-NATE (6283), and online at www.natex.org. Technicians can also register onsite, and through local chapters of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors-National Association (PHCCNA), and the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES).
