AHREXPO 2026 |Bac…net to the Future!

Session Information: Monday, February 2, 2026 | 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Session Overview

BACnet has long been the backbone of building automation, but to thrive in a cloud and AI-driven world, it must continue to evolve. This session explores the next steps for BACnet/SC, from strengthening cybersecurity and IT alignment to embracing semantic tagging and developer-friendly APIs. Learn how these changes can unlock seamless cloud integration, enable machine reasoning, and ensure BACnet remains the leading open protocol for the future of intelligent buildings.

SPEAKERS

Ken Sinclair E

Ken Sinclair, Founder, AutomatedBuildings.com

Ken Sinclair sees himself more as a storyteller and hopes the stories he tells will be a catalyst for the future we are all (eventually) going to live in. Ken believes that systems will be smarter, self-learning, edgy, innovative, and sophisticated, and to create, manage and re-invent those systems the industry needs to grow our most important resource, our younger people, by reaching out to them with messages about how vibrant, vital and rewarding working in this industry can be.
