There are a lot of new emerging business opportunities in the Facility Management and/or Service Providers market. Just think of intelligent homes, security/surveillance and health care over Internet. Not to mention the web based supervision and control of HVAC in buildings. With a fixed Internet/Intranet connection and infrastructure all this can come true. But who can provide this in a safe operation environment? Would you trust your own PC at home for a surveillance system? How often does it not work properly due to hackers, viruses or your OS? Who would you trust?

This would imply that solutions for the end-user have to be provided by professional service providers who can "guarantee" a 24-7 service. This could be a Real Estate or a Facility Management company. Why not an ASP or any network provider? All these will play an important roll in the creation of a new complete solution for both tenants and owners. Only one's imagination will restrict the new services that can be provided.

This infrastructure can function as the perfect base when it comes to providing new service opportunities to the Facility Management and/or Service Providers market. What it lacks however is an integration function for connecting that world with the serial field bus world. For a very long time this will be the reality, many different systems working in parallel. Even in a TCP/IP network there will be a need for system integration due to different protocols etc. This is why any Facilities Management or Service Provider system needs a system integration function to be able to present these new service possibilities to the market.

On top of this there is now the problem of having a flexible HMI solution for a normal tenant as well as a highly professional service engineer. It has to be priced right, easy to learn and available 24-7. Further it has to be made for a web browser.

Now you can add to the Internet/Intranet infrastructure the system integration and HMI tool from Botech, Greyhound and Craft Designer. These provide any service provider with the necessary tools to really integrate and market a complete solution for their customers. Botech offer a wide range of web servers with Linux OS for a reliable and cost efficient operation. Both servers and software are also available as OEM products.
