New York Public Service Commission Approves ION Energy Meters from Power Measurement 

VICTORIA, BC  - The State of New York Public Service Commission has approved the ION 8000-series line of intelligent energy meters for revenue-metering applications within the State of New York. 

Manufactured by Power Measurement, the ION 8300(TM), ION 8400(TM), and ION 8500(TM) devices are programmable, multi-function electricity meters suitable for monitoring energy transactions across New York's transmission and distribution grid. The socket-mount meters, now in use by a number of utilities across the state, correspond with the "New York Energy $mart" guidelines defined by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), and are suitable for energy management applications such as the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) emergency demand-response programs. 

In addition to the meters' high-accuracy metering specifications, each device provides advanced energy-management tools and communications options to help users control the cost, quality and reliability of their power. Each of the approved devices integrates revenue-class measurements with advanced power-quality analysis (such as waveform recording), alarming and control capabilities. Multi-port communications options and built-in Internet features such as WebMeter(R) and MeterMail(R) enable each device to share billing and power system information easily and affordably with authorized users through onboard web pages and e-mail alerts.
