Downers Grove, Illinois - Contemporary Controls offers the latest in reliable Ethernet technology with a series of Plug and Play and managed switches designed for extreme environments. “The industrial-grade CTRLink Ethernet switches can withstand heat near a steel mill blast furnace or the frigid cold of an oil rig near the Arctic circle,” says Sales Manager Joe Stasiek. “These switches are ideal for conditions in extended temperature ranges. Testing by Contemporary Controls’ engineers confirms the EISX Series, the EISX_M Series of switches the EISB B-Line Series and EISB_M Series will operate in temperatures from –40ºC to +75 ºC.”

The 8- and 9-port EISX Series of switches (including managed versions) was developed for applications requiring a small footprint and where its compact size is a necessity (measuring only 5.2 x 3.8 x 3.4 inches). Both copper and multimode (800 nm) and single-mode (1300 nm) fiber cables are supported.
The other family of switches, the EISB B-Line and the EISB_M , has a constant form factor requiring only 1.75” of DIN-rail space. The EISB B-Line Series is available in multiple models from all twisted-pair 8-, 16-, and 24-port versions to a mix of twisted-pair and fiber optic models of the same port count.
Equipped with all standard Plug and Play features, both managed product lines support the Simple Network Management Protocol. Other management features include VLAN, trunking, and Quality of Service (QoS).

Stasiek says for applications requiring redundancy, the managed models offer RapidRingä. “RapidRing makes a redundant Ethernet network that will self heal in less than 300 ms if any segment of the RapidRing is broken,” Stasiek said. “Redundancy is also available via trunking.”

These product lines can be powered from either wide-range, low-voltage AC or DC power sources for convenience. Redundant power connections are provided to accommodate back-up power schemes.

Mounting is not a concern, as these switches are designed with easy panel or DIN-rail installation in mind.
All product lines adhere to UL 508 Listed and C-UL Listed, CSA C22.2 No. 14-M91, Industrial Control Equipment regulatory approvals.
