The LONMARK Interoperability Association will be holding its Fall General Meeting on October 30, 2002 at the National Trade Centre, Toronto, Canada, in conjunction with the LONWORLD 2002 exhibition and conference that is taking place at the same venue from October 31 to November 1. Leading integrators, developers, OEM specifiers, energy providers, utility managers, service providers and end-users from around the world who design, specify and integrate open, multi-vendor control systems based on LONMARK certified products and Echelon Corporation's LONWORKS® device networks, as well as those completely new to the world of open systems, will be able to attend both events. To achieve an even greater synergy effect, LONWORLD will this year also co-locate with the ISH North America, the international trade fair for sanitation, plumbing, heating and air conditioning.

"By staging the LONMARK Fall General Meeting in conjunction with LONWORLD 2002, the LONMARK Interoperability Association and its members will be able to highlight the worldwide growth of the Association not only to the LONWORKS community at large, but also to those LONWORLD attendees who are interested in learning more about the benefits of open systems," says Kevin Lynch, Executive Director of the LONMARK Interoperability Association. "The fact that LONWORLD is this year co-locating with the ISH North America means that the synergy effects will be even greater."

THE LONMARK INTEROPERABILITY ASSOCIATION
Since its inception in 1994, the LONMARK Interoperability Association has become a major driving force in the establishment of interoperable guidelines for building, industrial, transportation and residential/utility automation. LONMARK membership is open to any manufacturer, end-user and system integrator committed to the development and use of open, interoperable products using multi-vendor LONWORKS control networks. Products that have been verified to conform to Echelon's LONMARK interoperability guidelines are eligible to carry the LONMARK logo, an indicator that a product has been designed to interoperate over a LONWORKS network.

ECHELON CORPORATION
contemporary Echelon Corporation is the creator of the LONWORKS platform, the world's most widely used standard for connecting everyday devices such as appliances, thermostats, air conditioners, electric meters, and lighting systems to each other and to the Internet. Echelon's hardware and software products enable manufacturers and integrators to create smart devices and systems that lower cost, increase convenience, improve service, and enhance productivity, quality, and safety. Thousands of companies have developed and installed LONWORKS products and more than 24 million LONWORKS enabled processors have been shipped for use in homes, buildings, factories, trains, and other systems worldwide.

The protocol underlying LONWORKS networks and the signaling technology used by Echelon's power line and free topology transceivers have been adopted as standards by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Echelon is also a founding member of the LONMARK Interoperability Association, an open industry forum of hundreds of leading manufacturers, integrators, and users dedicated to promoting the use of interoperable LONWORKS devices. More information is available at http://www.lonmark.org. Further information regarding Echelon can be found at http://www.echelon.com.
