Distech Controls Appoints Executive Vice-President of Sales

Quebec, Canada, December 15th, 2008 - Ahmed Hirani, P. Eng. joins the Distech Controls’ team as Executive Vice President Sales. Mr. Hirani has over eighteen years of experience in helping commercial and industrial customers innovatively reduce their energy consumption and lower their operating costs through the use open protocol energy management technologies. He brings strong sales leadership and direct digital technology expertise to the organization. At Distech Controls, Ahmed will be responsible for growing the international Distech Controls business and brand, which includes channel management and OEM relationships.

Ahmed joins Distech Controls from Sofame Technologies, a manufacturer of Waste
Heat Recovery Solutions where he was Vice President of Sales. Prior to Sofame,
Ahmed worked at Direct Energy Business Services holding several positions
including Director of Solution Sales for Building Automation Systems, HVAC
Services and Energy Solutions, as well as, Director of Business Development in
Mergers and Acquisitions. Ahmed was an Owner/Partner and Vice President and
General Manager at BASE Controls, a leading independent Canadian building
automation system and energy management company, where the management team grew
the controls business over 1600% in seven years and successfully concluded the
sale of the business to Direct Energy in 2004. BASE Controls was a leading
pioneer in the advent of open building technologies in the Canadian building
automation marketplace representing TAC/Invensys, TAC/Andover, Alerton and
Tridium. Prior to BASE Controls, Ahmed was employed by Invensys Building
Systems, a manufacturer of global building automation systems and building
controls products.
