Redmond, WA (December 10, 2009)—Building automation pioneer Alerton (www.alerton.com) announced today that its VisualLogic® Display (VLD) controller won Building Operating Management’s 2010 Top Product Award. The VLD is a communicating sensor-controller combination with built-in temperature and humidity sensors that targets common applications such as roof top units, fan-coil units and heat pumps. It provides a cost-effective solution to meet in-room hotel requirements, including an easy-to-use interface, easy-to-see digital display, and Celsius/Fahrenheit change over. The VLD also offers a wireless receiver-to-dry-contact solution for applications such as hotel rooms, school rooms, conference rooms, and others where décor cannot be marred with visible or otherwise intrusive cabling.

“The VLD is the perfect solution for any installation that requires an easy-to-use interface for users to control their environment,” said Kevin Clinger, Alerton’s product manager. “That includes high-end hotels, apartments and luxury condominiums, and any other facility where an Alerton system already controls public or common areas.”

The VLD is an extremely flexible standalone thermostat-controller combination; alternately, users can network it using MS/TP to provide a communicating version. Some facility owners may not be ready for a full building management system (BMS), but want a BMS-compatible thermostat so that when the time is right, their facility is ready to seamlessly upgrade. The VLD operates and schedules independently, and, when the customer is ready, can be brought online as part of a BACnet communicating system.

A large, easy-to-read touchscreen enables flexible customization of the display to any customer’s needs. The VLD is compatible with Alerton’s wireless occupancy kit, offering the option of using wireless sensors, and providing users with the best choice of location of that sensor for their individual spaces. The VLD is one of latest in Alerton’s line of next generation, fully programmable DDC controllers, and follows the company’s tradition of providing end-to-end hospitality solutions.

The VLD is available now through authorized Alerton dealers. For product ordering and technical information, contact your local Alerton dealer or call Alerton at 425.869.8400.
