January 23, 2008 - The Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) will collaborate with Eaton Corporation to enhance the company's rate of energy efficiency in its industrial buildings. These new ideas will enhance the energy savings practices already implemented by Eaton.

CABA will work with Eaton to develop uniform guidelines to advance building practices that are environmentally responsible. With assistance from CABA's Intelligent & Integrated Buildings Council, Eaton will enhance the environmental sustainability of its industrial operations by way of a new operational protocol.

The protocol will outline new approaches to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through the adoption of intelligent and integrated building systems. Eaton is member of the Business Roundtable's Climate RESOLVE initiative, and has pledged to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 18 per cent by 2012.

CABA's Intelligent & Integrated Buildings Council strengthens the large building automation industry through innovative technology-driven research projects. The non-profit trade organization will work with numerous partners, including Vivian Loftness, former Dean of the world-renown Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture, to create a high-performance building technology implementation guide for use in Eaton's industrial plants.

CABA will collaborate with numerous experts from its membership and Carnegie Mellon to assist Eaton in developing a comprehensive, long-term corporate energy management plan for the company's manufacturing facility in South Carolina. The operational protocol created will be a template for greenhouse gas reduction that can be applied to other Eaton facilities.

"We are excited to be working with CABA and Carnegie Mellon to create a generic template that can be used to further reduce energy consumption and measure the carbon footprint across all of our manufacturing and industrial operations," stated John White, Energy Management and Environmental Solutions Manager at Eaton Corporation. "Eaton intends to formulate a corporate-wide, comprehensive energy solution by way of the strategies we develop through this project."

Control Solutions, Inc "CABA is pleased to be playing a major role in the Eaton Corporation's commitment to energy efficiency and conservation," stated Ronald J. Zimmer, CABA president and chief executive officer. "This project falls into our mandate to promote the next generation of intelligent building technologies, plus a holistic approach that optimizes building performance, savings and environmental sustainability."

Eaton Corporation is a diversified industrial manufacturer with 2007 sales of $13.0 billion. Eaton is a global leader in electrical systems and components for power quality, distribution and control; fluid power systems and services for industrial, mobile and aircraft equipment; intelligent truck drivetrain systems for safety and fuel economy; and automotive engine air management systems, powertrain solutions and specialty controls for performance, fuel economy and safety.
