The Building Intelligence Group is an independent consulting firm that helps building owners, managers, system integrators and suppliers with the integration of intelligent buildings. The firm, led by its founder Paul Ehrlich, PE, will employ qualitative market research, focus groups, interviews, and trend analysis to develop the Roadmap.

"We are pleased to be partnering with the Building Intelligence Group on our Roadmap project," states Ronald J. Zimmer, CABA President & CEO. "Their high quality work will result in a solid portrait of the state of the integrated systems industry and a clear vision of where the industry is heading."

CABA's Intelligent Building Roadmap will be a collaborative industry-funded research project that explores the opportunities offered by emerging intelligent building technologies.

The objectives of the project will be to identify applications in intelligent buildings that have the greatest potential for broad end-user acceptance. The project will determine the value proposition of each application and identify the technological developments needed to support these applications and determine the key research and development needs for these technologies.

The project will also prioritize market segments based upon the likelihood to adopt intelligent building concepts and technologies and will determine critical decision making factors in relation to the purchase of intelligent building applications.

Findings from the project will be summarized in a final report that will provide detailed analysis, strategies and recommendations. This report will be finalized in early 2007 and circulated to the project's corporate sponsors.

Organizations funding the Intelligent Buildings Roadmap include Ariane Controls, Cisco Systems, Direct Energy, ESC Automation/Delta Controls, Johnson Controls, HID Corporation, Honeywell International, Tridium, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories, Legrand North America, Lutron Electronics Co., Inc., Panduit Corp., Siemens Building Technologies, Tour Andover Controls, Trane Control Systems, and InfoComm International.

Reliable Controls "We are delighted to be selected to provide CABA's Intelligent Building Roadmap," states Ehrlich. "Working with industry leading firms that have provided their commitment to this project is truly exciting. The end result of this project will not just be one more research report that identifies the issues, but a plan for the industry to proceed and to deliver on the promise of truly intelligent buildings."

Pete Horton, Vice President of Marketing Development at Watt Stopper/Legrand, and Chair of the project's steering committee acknowledges that: "The research for the Intelligent Buildings Roadmap report is guided by world leading technology and service companies to help professionals plan for intelligent buildings. The report will go beyond control systems and will help define the values of a high performance building for users, contractors, engineers and owners. Manufacturers worldwide will use this research as a reference to develop coordinated solutions for their customers." CABA members will receive the executive summary of this report when it is completed and research results will be showcased at CABA's Intelligent Buildings Leadership Forum in 2007.
