San Ramon, Calif. and SEOUL – Sept. 20, 2006 – The ZigBee™ Alliance, a global ecosystem of companies creating wireless solutions for use in home, commercial and industrial applications, today announced Dr. Ahn Kun-Young, director of IT Infrastructure Policy Division in the Republic of Korea Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) will address attendees at its quarterly Open House September 28 at the JW Marriott in Seoul.

Attendees at the free event will learn about the growing number of ZigBee products available around the world. They will also witness Dr. Ahn’s keynote speech on the role ZigBee technology plays in the on-going research designed to facilitate South Korea’s IT839 vision. The IT839 strategy was established in 2004 to present a new strategic vision for the Korean IT industry. There are at least two areas of IT839 where ZigBee technology plays a key role: The u-Home and u-Sensor Network.

“The ZigBee Alliance is extremely honored to have Dr. Ahn from the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Information and Communication deliver his keynote address to the attendees of the Seoul Open House,”said Bob Heile, chairman of the ZigBee Alliance. “Our free Open House events give everyone around the world an opportunity to see and touch a number of readily available ZigBee products, explore new uses for ZigBee and ask some of the industry’s best and brightest experts questions about our ever growing technology.”

Demonstrations and Features:
The Open House will feature live demonstrations of low-power wireless mesh network technology found in ZigBee products from a sample of Alliance member companies including: Atmel, Daintree, Crossbow, Ember, Freescale, Crossbow, Institute of Network Technologies, Jennic, Korwin, Microchip, Nanotron, OKI, RadioPulse, STMicroelectronics, Tektronix, Tendril Networks, Texas Instruments, TTA, UBEC, and ZMD

The event also features a member exposition and concludes with an evening reception, where attendees will have the opportunity to network with ZigBee Alliance member companies.
