Tendril Service Broker Now Supports EmberZNet 2.0 ZigBee-Compliant Protocol

Denver – February 21, 2006 – Tendril (www.tendrilinc.com), the leader in system software for deploying wireless sensor and control networks, today announced that it has begun shipping the Tendril Service Broker v1.0 on a second low-power wireless network platform – the EmberZNet 2.0 ZigBee-compliant network stack. The Tendril Service Broker is also compliant with the EmberNet proprietary network platform and will support numerous additional network platforms in the coming months.

The Tendril Service Broker is the first system software that allows organizations to fully leverage the power of wireless sensor networks that integrate different types of low-power sensors with enterprise or product computing systems. Tendril’s technology accomplishes this by providing an integrated enterprise-side and node-side programming interface for managing wireless sensor and control networks – allowing organizations to quickly, easily orchestrate and deploy their applications.

“Tendril is committed to offering the Service Broker on multiple platforms, thus allowing companies to leverage our system software no matter which network technology they choose to build with,” said Tim Enwall, CEO of Tendril. “A number of customers requested a version of our system software for this ZigBee-compliant platform, and we are pleased to fully support their deployments by shipping the Tendril Service Broker on the EmberZNet platform.”

Added Enwall: “As part of our multiple-platform strategy for wireless sensor and control networks, Tendril plans to release a steady stream of additional platforms over the next 6-12 months, which will continue to expand the market for the Tendril Service Broker. These platforms include Chipcon, Freescale, Renesas and other network platform volume leaders. This will allow a wider and wider range of companies to use our critical system software to quickly deploy – in a matter of a few days – wireless sensor and control applications and easily manage those networks as their use expands.”

The EmberZNet network stack is a scalable, self-organizing, self-healing wireless networking platform based on the ZigBee specifications. EmberZNet supports a variety of network topologies for wireless monitoring and control applications, including mesh, star, and cluster tree. EmberZNet provides all of the standard benefits that come with ZigBee including: flexible topologies, high security, broad interoperability, low cost, long battery life and integrated network management. In addition, EmberZNet applications can take advantage of the industrial-strength reliability and unprecedented ease of use of the Ember Transport Layer capabilities.
