IRVINE, Calif., April 19, 2006 – Lantronix, Inc. (Nasdaq: LTRX), today introduced the UDS1100, a more powerful, RoHS-compliant version of its best selling UDS external device server. Lantronix UDS (Universal Device Server) family is well-known for helping manufacturers worldwide network-enable their products and services. Mandated by the European Parliament and Council of the European Union, RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances) requires that manufacturers reduce the usage of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment by July 2006.

“The Lantronix UDS device server family continues to be the industry flagship for network-enabling devices in a variety of emerging machine-to-machine applications,” said Marc Nussbaum, CEO of Lantronix. “We took the RoHS green initiative as an opportunity to add functionality, making this new UDS1100 solution available with higher performance and more flexibility to meet the needs of our M2M customers.”

A cost-effective solution, the new Lantronix UDS1100 is a 10/100 single port device server with increased serial port speeds and is a drop-in replacement for current users of the Lantronix UDS family. The UDS1100 contains a complete miniaturized web server, is compatible with all standard web browsers and is customizable using Lantronix development tools. The UDS can also be used as a modem replacement allowing customers to replace PCs with modems or dedicated modem hardware with fast and reliable Ethernet based broadband networking.

Reliable Controls Machine-to-machine (M2M) technology provides the device intelligence needed to gain real-time access to information from anywhere. This technology has revolutionized many forward-thinking industries including Industrial/Building Automation, Medical, Point-of-Sale, Security and Audio-Visual/Entertainment. Now with a more powerful web server, processor and memory, the UDS makes it even easier to make M2M data accessible to backend corporate systems.

The UDS1100 is currently available worldwide through Lantronix resellers and partners. For more information on the new UDS1100, please visit: http://www.lantronix.com/device-networking/external-device-servers/.
