Alliance member companies to exhibit energy-efficient solutions based on self-powered EnOcean wireless standard, BACnet and LONMark

SAN RAMON, Calif. - January 12, 2010 - The EnOcean Alliance, an international consortium of 130 companies from the building sector, announces the participation of several Alliance member companies at the upcoming AHR Expo, to be held in Orlando, FL on January 25-27, 2010. Echoflex Solutions Inc, EnOcean Inc, Illumra, Kieback & Peter and BSC Magnum will demonstrate a broad range of the latest EnOcean-based monitoring and control products for HVAC/R applications in booth 1370. Focussing on the energy-saving potential in buildings, products on display will include building energy-management solutions based on EnOcean's new Dolphin system platform; HVAC monitoring and controls; wireless actuators as well as EnOcean-BACnet based solutions for HVAC.

In addition to these participants at the EnOcean Alliance booth, several Alliance members will be displaying further EnOcean based solutions at the Exhibition including: Distech Controls (booth 1051), Functional Devices, Inc. (booth 1219), LonMark (booth 1126), Spartan Peripheral Devices (booth 1359), Tridium (booth 1338).

First open specification for energy harvesting wireless sensors

One focus of the EnOcean Alliance will be its recently announced open specification for energy-harvesting wireless sensors and controls. Productized in the form of EnOcean Equipment Profiles (EEP), Alliance standardization guidelines ensure interoperability among HVAC/R devices of all EnOcean Alliance member manufacturers. Included among the EEPs for HVAC/R applications are for example temperature sensor, temperature & humidity sensor, gas sensor and occupancy sensor.

Jointly produced by EnOcean Alliance members, the public specification is accessible to everyone and presently contains 50 EnOcean Equipment Profiles (EEP) supporting the development of a variety of solutions for building automation. Currently available EEPs include switches, remote controls, sensors, sensor combinations and data of every kind, not only for HVAC/R applications, but for other green building automation requirements.

EnOcean Equipment Profiles define the functionality of EnOcean-enabled equipment independently of manufacturer. To ensure interoperability between all EnOcean-based products, every manufacturer must provide a binding declaration prior to product introduction demonstrating that their solution meets the EnOcean Alliance specification though compliance with one or more EEP.

The new document is the first official specification to compile and publish the EEPs, paving the way for global proliferation of EnOcean technology driving the development and manufacture of new types of equipment. For users, the directive means that they have an even greater selection and more implementation possibilities as a result of a growing number of products and suppliers.

Powering the Smart Grid Presentation
Graham Martin, Chairman & CEO of the EnOcean Alliance, will present in the LONMark Educational Seminar, "Powering the Smart Grid with LON and EnOcean" on Monday January 25th at 2pm.

On-site interviews with EnOcean Alliance executives
Further to this announcement, key EnOcean Alliance executives will be available for on-site interviews with the technical trade press and OEMs with a vital interest in interoperable monitoring and control solutions for energy efficient HVAC solutions.

About the EnOcean Alliance
