Securing Buildings News

Dallas – October 31, 2008 – TAC, a world leader in building automation, security systems and energy services, has acquired Control Innovations Inc. (CII), a TAC authorized dealer based in Dallas. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 1985, CII provides building management system (BMS) sales and service throughout northern Texas.

CII installs and services heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) controls as well as lighting and energy systems for a diverse customer base that includes commercial, educational, industrial, government and healthcare facilities. CII provides quality products, applications, and installations with expert project management focused on meeting customer objectives. The company is also committed to providing both preventive and predictive maintenance, as well as software support and utilization programs for both mechanical and electrical systems.

“Acquiring CII provides TAC with a new base of customers and an expanded network of service clients, while allowing TAC's Dallas Branch to increase market share in critical targeted markets,” said Jeff Drees, president of TAC, Americas. “The acquisition also enables CII’s customers to have access to a broad array of additional products, especially those from TAC’s parent company, Schneider Electric. This includes energy and power control devices as well as a full line of video solutions from Pelco, another company of the Schneider Electric family.”

Reliable Controls Robert Minter, a key principal with privately held CII, will join TAC, leading the new business unit within TAC’s Dallas Branch. He has more than 42 years of practical experience in the building automation and control business, on both the user and manufacturer sides. Minter has also taught control theory on both electronic and pneumatic controls at the university level. The CII office and staff will be co-located with the existing Dallas Branch office.

“Employees of CII will now have the opportunity to be part of the fastest growing and most profitable building automation company in the world, which will open up new opportunities previously not available to them,” said Drees. “We welcome these employees to TAC and are pleased to provide them with access to our technical, professional and managerial development courses and curriculum that are some of the best in the industry.”
