Waterford, Ireland. 30th Sept 2011. Embedded Labs have today announced that their OPC-UA Device Server Software Development Kits for Microcontrollers and Microprocessors have been certified for standards compliance by the OPC Foundation test lab in Arizona USA.

The OPC-UA DEVICE SERVER SDK FOR MICROCONTROLLERS is a software development kit that allows you to simply and easily add an OPC-UA Server to your microcontroller based product. With an emphasis on efficient RAM usage, the SDK is optimized for microcontrollers with 64kB – 512kB RAM.

The OPC-UA DEVICE SERVER SDK FOR MICROPROCESSORS is a software development kit for enhanced embedded systems based on high performance processors such as ARM9 and Intel Atom. With an emphasis on performance and large data sets, the SDK enables your device to serve thousands of variables to large numbers of concurrent clients. Typical targets have a 300MHz processor and 128MB RAM. The SDK runs on Windows, Windows Embedded, Windows CE, Linux, ucLinux, VxWorks, QNX Neutrino and many others.

Liam Power, Technical Director Embedded Labs said, “OPC Foundation compliance certification is the gold standard for OPC-UA quality, reliability and interoperability. Compliance certification assures our customers that our SDKs conform to the highest quality standards.”

contemporary About OPC-UA
OPC-UA (Unified Architecture) is the new OPC specification from the OPC Foundation (http://www.opcfoundation.org). OPC-UA defines a rich information model, enabling more effective communication between devices and software applications. Unlike its predecessors, OPC-UA supports multiple platform implementations enabling scalability from smart sensors to MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
