The Challenge: Optimizing Enterprise Data Center Systems Amidst Rapid Data Growth

A major automotive manufacturer was looking to transform their headquarters campus. This included the construction of an enterprise data center (EDC) to account for an anticipated 1,000 percent increase in data storage and usage requirements due to the company’s mobility goals and increased focus on autonomous electric vehicles.

Their main concern was ensuring that the facility provided ample visibility into energy usage across departments and systems. In order to efficiently manage the campus facilities and their many disparate technologies in and out of the data halls themselves, the company sought a platform to aggregate data while providing insight into complex operational relationships and equipment usage.

The company needed a scalable, smart energy monitoring solution to gain real-time data and improve operational efficiency.

The Solution: Enhancing Operations With Wesco’s Data Aggregation and Management Platform – entroCIM

Partnering with Wesco’s entroCIM team, an implementation plan was developed in collaboration with the company’s IT resources to ensure the system would meet their robust data and security requirements, while still maintaining ease of use for administrative stakeholders.

During development, a detailed plan for promotion from development and QA environments helped ensure the production environment was thoroughly vetted. Once installed, the intake of historical data provided the system with a strong baseline of operational functions and simplified reporting on the impact of operational initiatives, bringing actionable insight out of newly connected systems.

The implementation team also delivered dashboards, analytics and reporting, with role-based access filters ensuring stakeholders have the access they require, without oversharing sensitive information. End-user configurable dashboarding tools further simplify day-to-day operations, highlighting key insights on a user-by-user basis.
