MILWAUKEE – Johnson Controls, Inc., the global leader in facility management and control, is introducing a new building control system, Facility Explorer, exclusively available through the company’s Authorized Building Control Specialist (ABCS) network.

The Facility Explorer system is a comprehensive yet cost-effective hardware and software solution that is scalable to provide a sophisticated level of control to a wide variety of buildings, whether large or small. The Facility Explorer system offers operators quick access to information from anywhere in the system. It provides remote monitoring and control via a Web browser. Operators can also access information through user interfaces at the application controller and the plant controller, as well as at the master display.

“Facility Explorer is an important addition to Johnson Controls building management solutions. Its functionality and capabilities were built to align with the needs of our ABCS network’s customer base. Our ABCS’s customers asked for a modular system that can be scaled up or down to meet their needs,” said Alex Molinaroli, vice president and general manager, Americas, for Johnson Controls.

Among the system’s benefits is a supervisory controller auto discovery feature that finds field controllers that have been configured in the facility and automatically generates the user interface for these systems. Another benefit of the Facility Explorer system is that it is an open, interoperable system, supporting LonWorks®, N2 and BACnet® protocols.

The supervisory system is based on Tridium’s Niagara Framework®. Johnson Controls has tailored the system to support applications for the Johnson Controls field controllers that make the Facility Explorer system user friendly, flexible and easy to configure for a range of facilities.
