Company honored for exceeding government-established guidelines
Milwaukee, WI (February 14, 2008) - - Johnson Controls, (NYSE: JCI - News), the global, multi-industrial leader in creating smart environments, received the United States Department of Commerce Export Achievement Award.

Accepting the award on behalf of Johnson Controls was Anwar Hassan, vice president of Industrial Products and Joseph Brillhart, service branch manager based in Manhattan, NY.
The Export Achievement Award recognizes Johnson Controls’ successes in use of the Commerce Department’s exporting services to win district cooling contracts in the Middle East, particularly the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
“District energy is an amazingly efficient, environmentally responsible method of heating and cooling buildings, no matter where they are located,” said Allen Martin, vice president and general manager, North American Systems, Latin America, & Middle East, for Johnson Controls. “We’re honored to receive this award as it further validates the importance of meeting customers’ energy efficiency needs, and for contributing to the growing strength and vitality of the U.S. economy.”
Johnson Controls recently signed a contract to supply Qatar Cool, the district cooling authority for the Pearl Island of Qatar in the Arabian Gulf, with 52 water-cooled chiller units. Tabreed, one of the largest district cooling companies in the world, awarded the company a contract for 27, 2,500-ton York-brand centrifugal water-cooled chillers. The chillers will be used in four plants located in Abu Dhabi and in Ajman, UAE.
