Constellation NewEnergy to Showcase Its Extensive Services as Platinum Sponsor of ConnectivityWeek 2008
BALTIMORE – May 20, 2008 – Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) today announced that its subsidiary, Constellation NewEnergy, will showcase the company’s comprehensive products and services as a platinum sponsor of ConnectivityWeek 2008, which will focus on using technology to drive innovations in the energy industry. The conference, produced by Clasma Events Inc., is being held on May 20-22, 2008 at the convention center in Santa Clara, Calif.
“As a comprehensive energy services leader, Constellation NewEnergy is committed to delivering energy solutions through cross-industry collaboration and technology-driven innovations,” said Peter Kelly-Detwiler, senior vice president for Constellation NewEnergy. “This conference will focus on critical energy and environmental issues facing our nation and will serve as a platform to share our company’s experience on renewable energy, load response and energy management solutions.”
“ConnectivityWeek brings together more than 150 industry and academic energy experts from around the country to discuss information technology’s critical role in intelligent energy connectivity,” said Anto Budiardjo, president and CEO of Clasma Events Inc., the organizer of ConnectivityWeek 2008. “We are very pleased to have the support of Constellation NewEnergy as both a Platinum sponsor and a partner in bringing innovative products and services to this year’s conference.”
As part of its commitment to the conference, Constellation NewEnergy will supply Green-e Certified Renewable Energy Certificates to match 100 percent of the electricity usage during the full extent of the conference at both the convention center and the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara.
The conference’s DR-Expo will provide an opportunity to spotlight the newly created NewEnergy Alliance, a group committed to driving innovation in the building automation industry that is dedicated to creating smarter, more Energy Responsive BuildingsSM. These buildings will be able to respond to curtailment demands from utility grids as well as changes in energy market prices. The NewEnergy Alliance members are committed to forging a new electricity demand response model. This enhanced model will go beyond today’s reactive demand response offerings that compensate participants for using less energy when regional power grids are under stress. By providing customers with the information and tools to implement a proactive energy strategy, this approach may enable customers to receive increased revenue that can be invested in renewable energy purchases, environmental programs, and other long-term energy efficiency initiatives.
